Sound and Plot Not Censored
Blue Funk
For Sound and Plot Not Censored a rough facsimile of the university founder's memorial stone and text cut into rubber mats were placed into Bobkin Lane between NYU and the red stone facade of the library designed by Philip Johnson. Audio and slide projections were activated after dark. The extracts from the exhibtion catalogue, below, include the curator's reflection and the artists' description of the work. The exhibition curator Tommy Weir, worked with the Grey Art Gallery director Tom Sokolowski to realise this group show. Artists' works were shown at various locations on the occasion of the opening of the Glucksman Ireland House, adjacent to Washington Square Park.
